This year the theme of our spring concert is: All That Jazz! It will occur on Friday, May 17, from 6-7 PM at Nathan Hale High School! We are splitting the concert in to two halves, the first being choir from 6-6:30 p.m. and then Instrumental Music from 6:30-7 p.m.!

Here is some additional information about the day of the event:

Choir: Please have your student(s) arrive at 5:45 p.m. and head to the stage. WE WILL NOT BE USING THE BACKSTAGE ROOMS FOR THIS CONCERT. After choir’s performance they will be sitting on the sides of the stage to watch the instrumental music portion of the concert. After the instrumental music performance the students will be escorted back to centerstage to sit for pick up. Pick-up will happen on the stage right part of the stage and will be by grade level. Ms. Waltzer will be facilitating this so listen for instructions before leaving your seats.

Instrumental music: Please have your student(s) arrive at 5:45pm and head to the stage. WE WILL NOT BE USING THE BACKSTAGE ROOMS FOR THIS CONCERT. During choir’s performance the instrumental music students will be watching from the side stage. After choir’s performance instrumental music will set up and perform. After the final performance the students will be escorted back to center stage to sit for pick up. Pick up will happen on the Stage right part of the stage and will be by grade level. It's almost Carnival time!

One of Wedgwood’s most popular events is around the corner, on Saturday, June 1!We’re making some changes this year so, whether this is your first carnival or your fifth, check out this Q&A from Carnival Chair Jenny Puckett to learn what your family can expect to see on the playground this year.

Bike Everywhere Day: this Friday, May 17!

We had a solid turnout for Bike to School Day last Wednesday, May 8, with more than 60 kids biking to school. This Friday, May 17 is Bike Everywhere Day, and we'd like to encourage kids, once again, to bike to school, and will have a table set up on the playground to hand out treats to bikers and walkers -- if kids have been biking at home they can also stop by to sign in and grab a treat.

The backstory: May is Bike to School Month here in Seattle, in which Wedgwood Elementary competes with other schools and classrooms compete with each other to see who can rack up the most minutes of bicycling during the month.  Any biking anywhere counts – it doesn’t have to be to and from school. Download a tracking calendar from the Cascade Bicycle Club website.

Also, if anyone wants to help staff a table on Bike Everywhere Day, please email Elisa Murray at elisasmurray@gmail.com.

Calling all party planners!

We are on the hunt for next year’s planning committee for Wedgwood’s grown-ups-only party of the year! The annual auction is Wedgwood’s biggest fundraiser of the school year, and it’s also an awesome community builder for families and the staff in attendance. We are looking for a few good Marmots to support or lead parts of the auction including Marketing, Event Planning and Procurement. Many of these roles can be done in the evenings and on your own time. We need an energetic team in place to pull off an event of this size! The funds raised are critical for all of the kids who attend Wedgwood Elementary. Please consider volunteering and email Roshni Hourselt at auctionwedgwood@gmail.com to learn more.

Mighty Movers needs you!

Every Monday at lunch recess K-3 have an opportunity to earn foot charms by running around the track. The kiddos love this activity, but if we don’t have enough volunteers we need to cancel. Help us out and sign up here. There are only a few more Monday lunch recesses when we will do Mighty Movers. Don’t let our kiddos down!

Mondays from 11:40-12:30 on the playground.
