Get Involved

Present a poster on a science experiment or project:

Think like a scientist! Explore the world around you, test how things work, build a robot… Find a topic that interests you and share your results. Presenting at the Wedgwood STEAM Night is not a competition and is optional for all grade levels. More information here about how to get started and find resources.

Participate in the egg drop:

Design an egg protector to withstand a drop from the top of a 40-foot ladder truck! Will your raw egg break? Get creative with your materials, but please try to keep egg protector devices smaller than 18”x18”x18”. No use of balloons or parachutes. Bring your raw egg (from home) inside your egg protection device to the play court by 6:30 pm on STEAM Night. They will be launched from the ladder truck starting at 6:45pm.

Meet real scientists and engineers and check out cool displays:

Our volunteers are bringing cool things to see and touch! Including Garfield robotics, DNA extraction from strawberries, marine invertebrates…

See the kids’ science-based art projects: Ms. Voelk’s GLOW Art Show

Come visit the Art Room in Room 19 to experience the effects of fluorescent art projects with Black (aka Ultraviolet) light. We will have all sorts of animals and creatures for you to find on your “Glow Art Tour.” (Fluorescent substances absorb the ultraviolet light and then re-emit it almost instantaneously at a longer wavelength, which makes it visible and appear to glow.)

Watch the stars in the UW Mobile Planetarium:

Enter the mobile planetarium and experience the universe brought down to Wedgwood! Enjoy the cosmos and watch the movement of planets, stars and galaxies, all from the comfort of our own school.

Calling all Parent Scientists, Engineers, and Artists:

If any parents would like to present their STEAM expertise in the form of a booth, display, or demonstration please sign up.

Volunteers are also needed to help make things run smoothly on the day of the event. Sign up here!
